FAQs
Some frequently asked questions about our services and product and how it actually helps your business.
How much does a LiDAR floor plan scan cost?
Pricing depends on the size of the site, the level of detail you need, and how quickly you need the results. Most projects are quoted per square foot or per site visit, with larger warehouses and commercial buildings usually costing less per square foot than small properties.
Factors that affect the price include the total floor area, how many floors there are, how cluttered the space is, and whether you want a basic floor plan or a full 3D model with measurements. The quickest way to get an accurate figure is to send us the address or approximate square footage and what you need the scan for, and we’ll provide a fixed quote before any work begins.
We also consider the actual location of your business in relation to our head office of Worcester.
How accurate is a LiDAR floor plan compared to measuring by hand?
Our LiDAR floor plans are captured and processed with 98%+ accuracy, which is consistently more reliable than measuring by hand with a tape or laser distance meter. Manual measuring depends on the person doing it, and small errors add up across large or complex spaces, especially when rooms are missed, walls are out of square, or numbers are copied down incorrectly. A LiDAR scanner captures millions of data points in minutes, so every wall, doorway, and dimension is recorded directly from the space itself. That consistency is why LiDAR floor plans are trusted for warehouse layouts, construction planning, insurance documentation, and legal or forensic work where measurements need to hold up.
What is a 3D virtual tour and what can it be used for?
A 3D virtual tour is an interactive, walk-through digital copy of a real space that you can explore from any device, without being there. Viewers can move through rooms, take measurements, add notes, and share the tour with a link. Common uses include property marketing, warehouse and facility management, construction progress tracking, remote site inspections, insurance claims, training, and preserving the condition of a scene for legal or forensic purposes. It saves travel time and reduces the need for repeat site visits, because everyone involved can look at the same accurate model.
How long does it take to scan a building, and when will I receive my floor plan?
Scanning itself is fast. A typical home or small commercial unit can be captured in under an hour, while a large warehouse or multi-storey building may take a few hours to a full day. After the scan, the data is processed into your deliverables, which can include 2D floor plans, 3D models, point cloud files, and virtual tours. Turnaround is usually a few business days depending on size and complexity, and rush delivery can be arranged for urgent projects. You don’t need to clear the building completely, but tidy, accessible spaces give the cleanest results.
However turnaround can be slower should you wish to censor certain elements, rooms, objects and items from your your scan. We are happy to do this as your businesses security is paramount but this does come with delays to the natural work flow.
